Is This The Smallest Bathroom In New York? Sink-Toilet Combo Leaves Viewers Stunned | Watch Viral Video

New York City is known for its vibrant atmosphere, but it is also infamous for its high living costs. With soaring rents, broker's fees, and application charges, many residents are forced to live in small and cramped apartments. A recent viral video shared by Emily Bonani, a New York woman, has highlighted just how extreme these living conditions can be.

The video, posted on Instagram, shows Emily's bathroom in a Lower East Side apartment, which she believes might be the smallest in the city. The space-saving design features a sink that is attached to the toilet tank. The sink only works when the toilet is flushed, raising eyebrows among viewers.

According to the New York Post, the apartment's rent is $ 2,000 per month (roughly Rs 1,74,262), despite the bathroom's unconventional design. Emily's bathroom measures just 2.5 by 3 feet, offering little space to manoeuvre. "If you're thinking, 'What if I want to flush the toilet but I don't want to turn on the sink' ... that's not an option," Emily explained in her video.

While the setup is meant to save space, it has led to concerns about hygiene and comfort. Many viewers were shocked by the small bathroom and questioned whether such a cramped and unusual design could justify the hefty rent.

The video quickly gained traction, with many commenting on the unusual arrangement. One person wrote, "So are you like just sitting on the toilet doing your business then just BOOM pivot around and now you're washing your hands?" Another user shared their own experience living in cramped conditions: "Yes, this is big in Japan. The space is about double what I had in my apartment in Korea...I miss that place."

Others were less sympathetic, with one person asking, "Do you just keep flushing if you want the sink on for a long time?" Another user was more blunt: "Straddling a toilet backwards to wash my face would make me cry every day." One even joked, "The only time I have seen a toilet-sink combo like that was when I was in jail."

The video has sparked a wider conversation about New York's expensive housing market and the lengths tenants are forced to go to in order to secure a place to live
