Several Indian Americans have run for US presidential nomination in the past, including Kamala Harris, who was elected Vice President in 2020.
Washington, Feb 14: Prominent Indian-American leader Nikki Haley announced her presidential bid on Tuesday, becoming the first Republican to challenge former US President Donald Trump in his 2024 bid for the White House.
Haley, 51, is the two-term Governor of South Carolina and the former US Ambassador to the United Nations.

"I'm Nikki Haley, and I'm running for President," she announced in a video message. "It's time for a new generation of leadership - to rediscover fiscal responsibility, secure our border, and strengthen our country, our pride and our purpose.

However, Nikki Haley is not the only Indian-American candidate who is trying her luck to hold the top position in the United States.
Several Indian Americans have run for US presidential nomination in the past, including Kamala Harris, who was elected Vice President in 2020.
In the 2020 election cycle, Ro Khanna, a member of the US House of Representatives, and Tulsi Gabbard, a former U.S. Representative from Hawaii, also ran for the Democratic nomination.
2024 US Presidential elections looks to be an Indian Affair with more and more Indian-Americans are mulling to contest the prestige battle.
Vivek Ramaswamy
Indian-American businessman Vivek Ramaswamy is reportedly mulling a Republican presidential run for the White House.
As per Politico, Ramaswamy is exploring a potential campaign with a focus on "revitalising the American spirit and bringing back a culture of merit into society".
Confirming his intentions, Ramaswamy told USA Today Network in a statement, "Yes, I am strongly considering it".
Ramaswamy was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. His parents immigrated from Kerala, India.
Ro Khanna
US Congressman Ro Khanna is considering a run for a Senate seat has sparked rumours that he might be aiming for a presidential run. He said in a recent interview that he would consider over next few months whether to run for compete in the Senate, the upper chamber of the US Congress.
Khanna is an Indian-American whose parents migrated to the United States in 1970s. His grandfather Amarnath Vidyalankar was a freedom fighter who participated in the Indian Independence movement along side Mahatma Gandhi and Lala Lajpat Rai.
Tulsi Gabbard
There have been rumors about the possibility of Tulsi Gabbard making a presidential run in 2024 as an independent.
However, she has made no announcement about running, but there have been reports that she is favored among other possible candidates.
Notably, no Indian American has yet been elected as the President of the United States.
