'Is She Indian Or Black': Donald Trump On Kamala Harris' Race; She Retorts Resolutely
Republican presidential candidate and former US President Donald Trump made controversial remarks attacking Vice President Kamala Harris over her racial identity, suggesting she had "turned Black" for political gains.
During an interview at the National Association of Black Journalists conference on July 31, Trump questioned whether Harris was "Indian or Black," falsely accusing her of having identified as Indian before "all of a sudden" becoming a Black person.

Harris, who has consistently identified as Black and is a graduate of a historically Black university, denounced Trump's attacks as "the same old show" of divisiveness.
Speaking at a sorority gathering in Houston, Texas, she said that "the American people deserve better" and called for leadership that understands the strength in the nation's diversity.
Trump's remarks are seen as an escalation in his attacks against Harris, particularly as she becomes the Democratic nominee following President Joe Biden's withdrawal from the race on July 21.
Harris' favourability ratings have since risen, and she has received over $200 million in campaign donations.
At a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, Trump continued his verbal assault, labeling Harris as "phony" and slamming her for supposedly adopting a Southern accent at a recent rally in Atlanta, Georgia.
He contrasted himself as a fighter for America, while portraying Harris as a "radical left puppet."
Trump's increasingly inflammatory rhetoric against Harris reflects his struggle to find an effective line of attack as the 2024 election contest intensifies.
Despite his efforts, many of his previous insults against Harris, such as "Lyin' Kamala," "Laughin' Kamala," and "Crazy Kamala," have failed to resonate.
