Is Israel Ready For An Iranian Attack? PM Netanyahu Prepares For All Scenarios

Israel is preparing for simultaneous attacks from Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen, and Iran, as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared on Sunday that the country is in a "multifront war against Iran's axis of evil."

Speaking at a state memorial for Zionist leader Zeev Jabotinsky in Jerusalem, Netanyahu emphasized Israel's readiness for any scenario, stating, "We are striking every one of its arms with great force. We are prepared for any scenario - both offensively and defensively."

Middle East Tensions:
Tensions in the Middle East have escalated significantly following the deaths of key Hamas and Hezbollah leaders. A strike in Tehran killed Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh, an ally of Hezbollah. Both Iran and Hamas have blamed Israel for the attack, which Israel has not denied.

Recently, an Israeli strike in southern Lebanon killed top commander Fuad Shukr, as reported by Hindustan Times. Additionally, Israel confirmed that Mohammed Deif, the head of Hamas' military wing, was killed in a July airstrike in Gaza.

US Military Response:
In response to the escalating conflict, the US is increasing its military presence in the region. A fighter jet squadron has been deployed, and an aircraft carrier is being kept nearby to assist Israel if necessary.

Violence in Tel Aviv:
On Sunday, a stabbing attack near Tel Aviv resulted in the deaths of a woman in her 70s and an 80-year-old man, with two others wounded. The attacker, a Palestinian militant, was neutralized by the police.

Strikes in Gaza:
An Israeli airstrike in Gaza killed at least 25 people and injured 19. Israel claimed that the targets were Hamas command centers located within two schools.

Flight Suspensions:
Due to the rising conflict, several foreign airlines, including Delta, United, Lufthansa, and Air India, have suspended flights to and from Israel. El Al, Israel's national carrier, is working to add more flights to bring Israelis home, and boats are being considered for ferrying citizens.

Diplomatic Efforts:
In a rare visit aimed at preventing a wider war, Jordan's foreign minister met with Iran's acting foreign minister in Tehran. Jordan, a close Western ally, has played a key role in intercepting missiles and drones fired by Iran toward Israel.

Houthi Strike:
Yemen's Houthi rebels claimed a strike on a cargo ship in the Gulf of Aden, targeting the ship Groton with ballistic missiles. This is the first such attack since Israel struck the Hodeida port last month, as per media reports.

Calls for Cease-fire:
A senior Biden administration official has urged Israel to renew Gaza cease-fire negotiations, citing the increased risk of regional conflict.

Israeli Delegation to Egypt:
An Israeli delegation, led by the intelligence chief, visited Egypt for Gaza war talks but returned without a breakthrough.

Economic Impact:
The ongoing conflict has also affected global markets. Oil prices have surged due to the Middle East tensions, with Brent crude exceeding $77 a barrel and West Texas Intermediate trading near $74.

As the situation remains volatile, Israel's readiness for a multifront conflict highlights the ongoing and complex nature of the region's geopolitical landscape.
