Iran Trolls Trump With SRK Dialogue, ‘Dhamaal’ Meme After Strait of Hormuz Blockade Order

Hours after the United States announced a naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, the Iranian consulate in Mumbai appeared to respond with humour, sharing a Bollywood meme clip on social media that mocked Washington's latest move amid the deepening Iran-US conflict.

Following the US naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, the Iranian consulate in Mumbai shared a Bollywood 'Dhamaal' meme on X to mock the US action, further escalating tensions in the critical oil shipping route.

The post, shared on X, used a scene from the 2007 comedy film Dhamaal to take a swipe at US President Donald Trump's decision to block one of the world's most critical oil shipping routes. The Strait of Hormuz has already been under strain since the war began in February, and the latest American move has pushed tensions even higher.

Iranian consulate in Mumbai shares 'Dhamaal' meme on X

In the clip shared by the Iranian consulate in Mumbai, actor Riteish Deshmukh's character is shown trying to escape a group of men chasing him. In the comic sequence, he attempts to hide behind a door that remains exposed from both sides, turning the moment into a metaphor for the current standoff.

The post framed Riteish Deshmukh's character as the United States, while the men pursuing him represented Iran. Sharing the video, the Iranian consulate in Mumbai wrote on X, "Indian memes are GOAT."

The term GOAT, widely used online, stands for "Greatest of All Time".

Shah Rukh Khan dialogue used earlier to target Trump

This is not the first time the Iranian consulate general in Mumbai has used Bollywood references to comment on the crisis. Earlier, it invoked a famous Shah Rukh Khan line while warning that the confrontation with Iran was far from over.

In a strongly worded post, the consulate said, "Funny how #Trump kept claiming #Iran's navy was "finished"... now they're about to find out how a swarm can pin you down real quick. Abhi toh sirf trailer hai, picture abhi baaki hai (Only a glimpse has been shown, the real fight or the story is yet to come out),"

The remark came as the consulate highlighted Iran's fast missile boats, describing them as the 'Red Bees of the Persian Gulf', signalling Tehran's confidence in its naval response capabilities.

US announces blockade of Strait of Hormuz after failed talks

The American decision came after talks with an Iranian delegation in Pakistan collapsed, prompting Washington to escalate its military posture in the region.

On Monday, Trump announced that the US would begin blocking vessels entering or leaving the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic maritime corridor through which a large share of the world's crude oil and LNG supplies pass.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, "Effective immediately, the United States Navy, the Finest in the World, will begin the process of BLOCKADING any and all Ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait of Hormuz,"

He also issued a direct threat to Tehran, warning that any Iranian 'who fires at us, or at peaceful vessels' will be 'blown to hell'.

Tensions rise further in Persian Gulf as war escalates

With Washington now moving to stop ships linked to Iran's Persian Gulf ports and coastal areas, the crisis has entered a more dangerous phase. The US blockade announcement sharply raises the stakes in an already volatile conflict, with the Strait of Hormuz now emerging as the central flashpoint in the wider war.

The Iranian consulate's use of humour and Bollywood references may have been intended to mock the US action, but it also reflects how the war's messaging battle is now playing out well beyond the battlefield, including on Indian social media.
