Iran’s Pezeshkian Says Israeli Attacks On Lebanon Violate Ceasefire, Warns Talks Will Become Meaningless

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has sharply criticised Israel's latest military actions in Lebanon, calling them a serious breach of the existing ceasefire arrangement and warning that continued attacks could destroy any chance of meaningful negotiations in the region.

In a strongly worded social media post on Thursday, Pezeshkian said Israel's renewed operations in Lebanon reflected a lack of commitment to diplomatic understandings and could further destabilise an already fragile regional situation.

Pezeshkian Calls Lebanon Strikes A 'Blatant Violation' Of Ceasefire

Condemning the latest developments, the Iranian president said, "Israel's renewed incursion into Lebanon is a blatant violation of the initial ceasefire agreement. This is a dangerous sign of deception and lack of commitment to potential agreements."

He also cautioned that any continued military escalation would weaken ongoing diplomatic efforts, adding, "The continuation of these actions will render negotiations meaningless."

The remarks came as tensions in the Middle East remain elevated, with fears growing that repeated ceasefire violations could trigger a wider collapse of efforts aimed at containing the conflict.

Pezeshkian also delivered a strong message of support for Lebanon, underlining that Tehran would continue to stand by its allies despite the worsening situation.

"Our fingers remain on the trigger. Iran will never abandon its Lebanese sisters and brothers," he said.

In a related statement, he described the attacks as part of a broader pattern of continued aggression, saying, "The repeated aggression by the Zionist entity against Lebanon is a flagrant violation of the initial ceasefire agreement and a dangerous indicator of deceit and lack of commitment to potential accords. The continuation of these aggressions will render negotiations meaningless;"

His remarks have added to concerns that the ceasefire framework could come under greater strain if hostilities persist.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Issues Strong Warning Over 'Explicit Costs'

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf also weighed in on the issue, warning that alleged violations of the ceasefire would invite consequences and stressing the role of Iran's regional allies in the conflict dynamic.

In a post on social media, Ghalibaf said, "Lebanon and the entire Resistance Axis, as Iran's allies, form an inseparable part of the ceasefire. (Point 1, 10-point proposal)".

He also referenced comments made by Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, stating, "PM Shehbaz Sharif publicly and clearly stressed the Lebanon issue; there is no room for denial and backtracking."

Escalating the warning further, he added, "Ceasefire violations carry explicit costs and STRONG responses. Extinguish the fire immediately."

Fears Grow Over Ceasefire Stability In The Middle East

The statements from both Pezeshkian and Ghalibaf come at a time of increasing anxiety over the future of the ceasefire and the wider stability of the region.

With both Iranian leaders framing the recent strikes as a direct challenge to the truce, the rhetoric signals a sharper posture from Tehran and raises fresh questions over whether diplomatic channels can still hold if military activity in Lebanon continues.
