White House: Iran Commences Airborne Assault on Israel
In a significant escalation of tensions in the Middle East, Iran has initiated an airborne assault on Israel, prompting a swift response from both Israeli and United States officials. The White House has unequivocally stated its support for Israel in the face of this aggression. Israeli aviation authorities, reacting to the imminent threat, have announced a complete shutdown of the country's airspace to all flights.

Adrienne Watson, the spokesperson for the National Security Council at the White House, confirmed that President Joe Biden is being kept up-to-date with the unfolding situation. According to Watson's statement on Saturday, President Biden is set to convene with his national security team to discuss the developments further. This meeting underscores the gravity of the situation and the United States' commitment to Israel's security amidst these hostilities.
Following the alert, President Biden made an immediate return to the White House from Delaware to receive comprehensive briefings on the situation. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and Principal Deputy National Security Advisor Jon Finer provided insights into the ongoing developments. The U.S. administration is maintaining close communication with Israeli officials and coordinating with other partners and allies in response to Iran's actions.
The White House has articulated a firm stance regarding its support for Israel. "President Biden has been clear: our support for Israel's security is ironclad," Watson stated. This declaration comes as the conflict is expected to escalate over several hours, highlighting the critical nature of U.S. support during this period.
The high-level meeting convened by President Biden will include key figures such as Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Charles Q. Brown, among others. Notably, Vice President Kamala Harris and Chief of Staff Jeff Zients will participate via a secure video link, emphasizing the administration's prioritization of this issue.
This incident marks a significant moment in Middle Eastern geopolitics, with potential implications for regional stability and international relations. The United States' reaffirmation of its commitment to Israel's defense against threats underscores the strategic partnership between the two nations amidst escalating tensions.
