iPhone Miraculously Survives 16,000-Foot Fall From Alaska Airlines Flight

An iPhone managed to withstand a remarkable 16,000-foot fall from the Alaska Airlines ASA 1282 flight, traveling from Portland, Oregon, to Ontario, California. The phone The phone survived the harrowing ordeal after a window shattered on the Boeing 737-9 MAX aircraft, causing various items, including phones, to be sucked out mid-air. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) confirmed the incident and identified another iPhone found to be fully functional after the fall.

Though the specific iPhone model is not officially verified, images shared on X suggest it could either be an iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro, housed in a protective hard case.

Sharing photos of the recovered iPhone on X, Seanathan Bates mentioned, "Found an iPhone on the roadside... Still in airplane mode, with half a battery, and open to a baggage claim for #AlaskaAirlines ASA1282. Survived a 16,000-foot drop perfectly intact! When I reported it, Zoe at @NTSB mentioned it was the SECOND phone found. No door found yet."

Remarkably, the iPhone remained unscathed and fully operational after the intense free fall from the aircraft.

Following a frightening midair occurrence where a window and part of the fuselage blew out, leading to an emergency landing in Oregon, Alaska Airlines grounded its fleet of 65 Boeing 737-9 aircraft.

The incident occurred shortly after takeoff, causing the cabin to depressurize. The plane ascended to 16,000 feet before returning to Portland International Airport. Thankfully, the aircraft safely landed, carrying 174 passengers and six crew members.

Discovered with in-flight mode activated and SOS signaling, the recovered iPhone was found by Seanathan Bates while walking down Barnes Road. Ironically, Alaska Airlines is still searching for the missing window that fell from the aircraft.
