Dawood Ibrahim has been kept in a tightly-guarded hospital and an entire floor has been reserved for him alone. Access to this floor is restricted to high-ranking hospital officials and his immediate family members.

According to a report in India Today, the Mumbai Police are trying to get more information about the development from his relatives Alishah Parkar and Sajid Wagle.

Nonetheless, there has not been any update about the development in the Pakistani media houses including Dawn and Geo TV.

Dawood Ibrahim, a key figure in organized crime, has eluded law enforcement for an extended period. Accused of orchestrating the 1993 Mumbai bombings, he earned the designation as one of India's most wanted terrorists.

India has long been pushing Pakistan both directly as well as on international forums to extradite Dawood Ibrahim to India. However, Pakistan has continued to deny his existence on their soil despite being given evidence.

In 2019, a court in the United Kingdom was told that Dawood and his associates were wanted for the deadly coordinated bombings in Mumbai in 1993 and were currently in exile in Pakistan. A high-ranking member of the Dawood gang, Jabir Moti told the Westminster Magistrates' Court that his boss is in Pakistan.
