Recently, there has been a notable expansion in the range of international travel opportunities accessible to holders of Indian passports. As per the Henley Passport Index released on Tuesday, India's passport has now reached the 80th position globally. This upgraded ranking provides Indian citizens with the privilege of seamless exploration across 62 countries, easing the complexities of visa application procedures, reported the Economic Times. The assessment of this ranking aligns with visa regulations effective as of January 11, based on data provided by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
62 countries visa-free for Indians

The Henley Passport Index, a key player in presenting, organizing, and ranking global passports, reveals that six countries - France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Singapore, and Spain - jointly hold the prestigious title of the world's most powerful passports. Citizens from these nations enjoy unprecedented freedom to travel to over 194 countries without the hassle of visa requirements. Conversely, Afghanistan occupies the bottom position on the list, granting its passport holders access to a mere 28 countries without a visa. Syria closely follows with visa-free entry to 29 destinations, trailed by Iraq with 31, and Pakistan with 34.
However, the liberty of visiting 62 countries, including Oman and Qatar, without the encumbrance of a visa, can now be enjoyed by Indian passport bearers. These destinations offer either visa-free entry or the convenience of visa-on-arrival for Indian travellers, as elucidated by the Henley Passport Index 2024.
