Tragic End for Aspiring Chef on Qantas Melbourne-Delhi Flight

A 24-year-old Indian woman, Manpreet Kaur, tragically passed away on a Qantas flight from Melbourne to New Delhi. Kaur, who aspired to be a chef, boarded the plane on June 20 but fell ill before takeoff. Despite feeling unwell earlier, she managed to board without issues.

Tragic Flight Incident

Kaur was travelling to India to visit her parents for the first time since moving to Australia in March 2020. Her friend Gurdip Grewal shared that Kaur collapsed while attempting to fasten her seatbelt. "When she got on the plane, she was struggling to put her seatbelt on," Grewal told the Herald Sun newspaper. "Just before her flight started, she fell in front of her seat and died on the spot."

Medical Condition Suspected

It is believed that Kaur likely succumbed to tuberculosis, a disease primarily affecting the lungs. The plane was still at the gate in Melbourne when cabin crew and emergency services rushed to assist her. Despite their efforts, she could not be revived.

Kaur's roommate Kuldeep mentioned that she worked at Australia Post while studying cookery. "She was kind and honest," Kuldeep said. "She loved to travel with her friends around Victoria." Kaur's sudden death has left a void in the lives of those who knew her.

Community Support

In response to this tragedy, a GoFundMe page has been set up to support Kaur's family. The page reads: "Our dear friend Manpreet left us too soon, leaving a void in our lives that can never be filled." It continues, "As we grieve her passing, we want to come together to honour her memory and support her family in their time of need."

The fundraising effort aims to help Kaur's family during this difficult period. "As we say our final goodbyes, every contribution, big or small, brings us closer to our goal. Your support means the world to us and Manpreet’s family," the page states.

Airline's Response

A spokesperson for Qantas expressed their condolences, stating: "Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones." The airline has not provided further details about the incident but has acknowledged the tragic event.

Kaur's death has shocked many, highlighting the importance of health checks before travel. Her dream of becoming a chef remains unfulfilled, but her memory lives on through the support of friends and family.

This incident underscores the unpredictable nature of life and the importance of community support during times of loss.
