Indian Man Faces Molestation Charges For Grabbing Woman Flight Crew From Behind In Singapore-Bound Flight

An Indian national allegedly molested a female cabin crew member on a Singapore-bound flight, The Straits Times reported. The incident occurred on February 28 at 12.05 pm.

What Happened Exactly?

Citing the investigation report, the accused inappropriately touched the cabin crew on the said flight. When the victim was escorting a female passenger to the lavatory, the 20-year-old man grabbed her from behind and pushed her to the lavatory as she bent down to pick up a piece of tissue paper on the floor. However, the female passenger came to her rescue and took the cabin crew out of the lavatory. The issue was then reported to the cabin supervisor.

The 20-year-old man was arrested upon landing in Changi Airport by the Airport Police Division. However, the name of the accused has not been reveal the name of the airline.

Responding to the incident, Airport Police Division, Assistant Commissioner M. Malathi, said: "We take such incidents seriously as cabin crew are trained professionals dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of all passengers. He is reportedly charged with using criminal force with intent to outrage modesty and the punishment carried up to three years in prison, a fine, caning, or any combination of these penalties, the report added.

"The police remain committed to protecting airline staff and passengers on board from any form of sexual harassment or assault."

73-year-Old Indian national Senteced To 9 Month Prison

Just weeks ago, a 73-year-old Indian national was sentenced to nine months in prison for molesting four female cabin crew on board a Singapore Airlines (SIA) flight. During the San Francisco to Singapore flight, the accused, identified as Balasubramanian Ramesh had molested the four women over a period of 14 hours. He also pleaded guilty to four counts of molestation, on November 18, 2024.
