Community Response to Temple Vandalism

Footage shared online shows offensive graffiti sprayed on the road and signage outside the temple. A prayer meeting is planned at the temple later in the afternoon following the incident. The Hindu American Foundation has called for an investigation by the Justice Department and Department of Homeland Security.

Suhag Shukla, executive director of the Hindu American Foundation, commented on X, "It is hard to comprehend the absolute cowardice of those who would attack a Hindu temple to air hatred for an elected leader. This attack, following recent threats at Hindu and Indian institutions, must be seen in the context of that threat scenario."

The foundation emphasised that recent threats to Hindu institutions should be considered when investigating this attack. They highlighted that a large Indian community gathering is scheduled nearby in Nassau County this weekend.

The Consulate reiterated its commitment to ensuring justice and maintaining communication with both the community and law enforcement agencies. They stressed the importance of addressing such acts promptly to prevent further incidents.

In light of these events, local authorities are expected to increase security measures around Hindu temples and Indian institutions. The community remains vigilant and united in response to these threats.
