The primary objective of the event, named "Thanksgiving/Feed the Needy" dinner, is to mobilise the financial and professional resources of Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) living in Chicago through networking activities to promote the interests of the Indian community in Chicago, the report said.

The fund raised by the event will be used to help two charities.

A donation to "SKY", a firm in Nepal that builds shelters for Nepalese people displaced by the recent earthquake, will be given.

Another donation will be given to Missionaries of Charity Chicago, a firm run by Mother Teresa's sisters that helps the poor and needy in Chicago.

GOPIO Chicago said that this fundraiser will help several homeless people in Nepal to get a shelter and several poor people in Chicago will get clothing and food.

The fundraiser will also have entertainment programmes like Bollywood dance and DJ night. Key business and US political leaders will attend the fundraiser.
