Indian American Congressman Pledges Full Support to President Biden

Indian American Congressman Shri Thanedar has expressed his unwavering support for US President Joe Biden's re-election campaign. Thanedar, who represents Michigan's 13th Congressional District, emphasised Biden's significance for Detroit and the broader state, which is a key battleground.

"A few months ago, I sat 20 feet away from President Biden and listened to him outline his vision for our country for nearly an hour. I've had multiple one-on-one conversations with him where he speaks fondly of Detroit and understands the problems we face. He is the same person we elected in 2020, where he was the most effective leader we've had in modern times," Thanedar said.

Support from Indian American Congressmen

Thanedar is the first among five Indian American Congressmen in the House of Representatives to officially back Biden following a lacklustre performance in a recent presidential debate in Atlanta. The other Indian American Congressmen include Ami Bera, Pramila Jayapal, Ro Khanna, and Raja Krishnamoorthi.

In his endorsement, Thanedar highlighted Biden's accomplishments during his first term. These include record infrastructure spending, significant investments in semiconductors and supply chains through the CHIPS Act, reduced insulin costs, and the signing of the first major gun safety act in nearly three decades.

Biden's Achievements and Future Plans

Thanedar noted that despite these achievements, there remains much to be done. He stressed the need for more federal investment, particularly in housing. "To me, the choice is clear. President Biden will bring more federal dollars to our district, while Trump will just keep giving tax breaks to the rich. I'm fully behind President Biden as he is clearly the best choice for the 13th District," he stated.

A victory for Biden in Michigan would be crucial in his battle against Republican rival Donald Trump. Thanedar's support could play a pivotal role given Michigan's status as a battleground state.

Thanedar's endorsement comes at a time when Biden's approval ratings have dipped following his performance in Atlanta. This has led to increasing calls from within his party for him to reconsider his candidacy.
