India to hold regional PBD in Los Angeles in November

Washington, Sep 23: India will hold a regional Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Los Angeles in November.

The announcement has been welcomed by the United States.

Regional Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) in Los Angeles is part of the effort of the Indian government to increase its engagement with the large Indian-American community, which numbers more than three million.

A joint statement issued after the first India US Strategic and Commercial Dialogue, appreciated the intense engagement between the two countries under various institutional bilateral dialogue mechanisms and people-to-people contacts.

It welcomed India's announcement to hold a regional Pravasi Bhartiya Divas (PBD) in Los Angeles in November this year, to further increase people-to-people contacts between the two countries.

The last regional PBD was held in New York in 2007.
