India Slams Pakistan Over 'Unjustified Reference' To Jammu & Kashmir At United Nations General Assembly
India's representative to the United Nations, Parvathaneni Harish, criticised Pakistan for its "unjustified" mentions of Jammu and Kashmir. During a UN General Assembly session, India emphasised that such references will neither support Pakistan's claims nor excuse their cross-border terrorism activities.
Harish highlighted that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India. He noted, "As it is their habit, the former foreign secretary of Pakistan today has made an unjustified reference to the Indian Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir."

Addressing Religious Discrimination
Speaking at the General Assembly meeting on the International Day to Combat Islamophobia, Harish expressed concern over increasing violence against religious sites and communities. He stressed that this issue requires consistent dedication and tangible actions from all nations to uphold equal respect for all religions.
The Indian representative urged countries to ensure equal treatment for all citizens and avoid policies promoting religious bias. He stated that educational systems worldwide should not "perpetuate stereotypes or encourage bigotry."
Broader Struggle Against Discrimination
Harish further remarked, "Let us remember that the fight against Islamophobia is inseparable from the broader struggle against religious discrimination in all its forms, as was correctly envisaged in the 1981 declaration." This statement underscores India's commitment to combating religious intolerance globally.
