India sabotaged NSA talks by imposing preconditions: Pakistan defence minister

Islamabad, Aug 24: India has once again sabotaged talks with Pakistan by imposing preconditions, said defence minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif.

"Pakistan is serious for talks as it is the only way to settle disputes. However, pre-conditions for resuming the dialogue process are not acceptable," he was quoted as saying by Radio Pakistan.

India sabotaged NSA talks: Pak minister

"The negative attitude of Modi government is disrupting peace process and fanning tensions in the region to fulfill its nefarious designs," he added.

Pakistan called off the NSA level talks scheduled to be held in New Delhi on August 23-24. India has termed Pakistan's decision an unfortunate one.

The Pakistani move came after External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said Sartaj Aziz, Advisor to the Pakistan Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs, was welcome if Pakistan could give an assurance by midnight that talks would be confined only to terror and that he won't meet the Hurriyat leaders in New Delhi.
