India Rebukes Pakistan’s Allegations Amid Renewed Border Tensions with Afghanistan

As border tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan erupted twice in a single week, India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) dismissed Pakistan's attempt to implicate India in the conflict, calling it a "habitual deflection" from its own internal problems.

Pakistan has accused Afghanistan of sheltering terrorist groups and, in a familiar move, hinted at India's involvement. The MEA, however, strongly rejected the insinuations, reaffirming that Islamabad's long-standing approach has been to "blame neighbours for its failures."

MEA's Strong Response

During a weekly press briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated:

"Three things are clear. One, Pakistan hosts terrorist organisations and sponsors terrorist activities. Two, it is an old practice of Pakistan to blame its neighbours for its own internal failures. Three, Pakistan is infuriated with Afghanistan exercising sovereignty over its own territories."

Jaiswal further underscored that India's position remains consistent - supporting Afghanistan's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.

Escalation Along the Border

The latest clashes between Pakistani and Afghan forces led to several casualties among both military personnel and civilians. The fighting, which erupted late Tuesday, prompted both nations to announce a 48-hour ceasefire - each claiming it was initiated by the other.

The midweek exchange followed a weekend confrontation in which Afghanistan retaliated against Pakistan after an attack in Kabul that it blamed on Islamabad. These incidents mark one of the sharpest flare-ups between the two sides in recent months.

India's Broader View

India's response signals its continued diplomatic balancing act in the region. While maintaining a cautious distance from direct involvement, New Delhi has repeatedly highlighted Pakistan's role as a terror sponsor and reiterated support for a stable, independent Afghanistan.
