India Ready To Be Superpower, Pakistan Is Begging For Funds: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan Chief

Pakistan's popular right-wing Islamic leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman, chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan (Fazl), on Tuesday criticised his own nation and praised India for great business opportunities and rapidly growing economy. In his speech at Pakistan's national assembly, Rejman said that India is at the edge of becoming a superpower under a strong leadership, while Pakistan is near bankruptcy.

He said the JUI-F chief critcised erstwhile governments alleging that their decisions were taken by unseen forces from behind the scenes. He said that such powerful people made elected representatives 'mere puppets' and just because of them Pakistan is today in a begging position.

"There are powers behind the walls controlling us, and they make decisions while we are just puppets," Maulana Fazlur Rehman said. He further accused the parliament of forsaking principles and selling democracy.

"It is the right of the PTI to hold a rally. We also objected to the 2018 election and we object to this (February 8 polls) one too. If the 2018 poll was rigged, why is the current one not rigged?" said Rehman, highlighting the fact that PTI emerged victorious in the recently held election and it should be allowed to form the government.

He also accused Nawaz Sharif's Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Bhutto's Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) of stealing people's mandate.

"Pakistan is Begging Today"

Analyzing ongoing financial situation of Pakistan, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief said Pakistan was begging the International Monetary Fund to avoid bankruptcy. "Just compare India and ourselves... both countries got independence on the same day. But today they (India) are dreaming of becoming a superpower and we are begging to avoid bankruptcy. Who is responsible for this?" he further added.

"We have made our country a victim of stagnation, such nations cannot progress," Rahman highlighted.
