Oct 7: Thousands of people living along the US southeast coast were asked to evacuate ahead of Hurricane Mathew hitting Florida head on.
Even as the hurricane approached Florida, US President Barack Obama declared a state of emergency in Florida. Hurricane Mathew that already hit the Caribbean claimed nearly 300 lives. Over 250 people were killed in Haiti alone after the hurricane made landfall.
The hurricane also stormed Cuba, where several homes were destroyed and many were homeless.
In other news, newly crowned Miss Venezuela has said that Donald Trump fat shamed former Miss Univer Alicia Machado. "I don't share this gentleman's opinions, but we have to be tolerant and respect everyone's opinion," Keysi Sayago said.
