Imran Khan arrested: What is Al-Qadir Trust case all about?
Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan was arrested on Tuesday by paramilitary Rangers in connection with Al-Qadir Trust Case.

"Khan has been arrested in a land transfer case to property tycoon Malik Riaz and is being handed over to National Accountability Bureau (NAB)", a NAB official confirmed to PTI. The arrest warrant, which was issued on May 1, showed that he was accused of corruption and corrupt practice.
So, what is the case all about?
The case is about the setting up of Al-Qadir University for the Sufism Sohawa area of the Jhelum district of Punjab.
Imran Khan, along with his wife Bushra Bibi and close associates Zulfiqar Bukhari and Babar Awan, established the Al-Qadir Project Trust. They created the trust with the objective of delivering "quality education" in the Sohawa Tehsil of Punjab's Jhelum district.
In 2019, Khan's wife signed a memorandum with real estate giant Bahria Town Limited to receive donations. As part of the deal, Bahria Town donated 458 kanals, 4 marlas, and 58 square feet of land to the trust.
The Allegations
Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah had accused Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi of accepting Rs 5 billion and hundreds of kanals of land from Bahria Town in return for "providing protection" to the real estate firm in a money laundering case during the PTI government.
He had claimed that the said company had "illegally transferred" Rs 50 billion to a Pakistani national in the UK and this was discovered by the UK's National Crime Agency, which then alerted the PTI government about the offence.
Imran Khan had then asked his aide Shehzad Akbar to resolve the matter and the entire issue was settled after the ex-PM was paid Rs 5 billion as his share and Rs 50 billion - which was state property and belonged to the national treasury - was adjusted against Bahria Town's liability, the minister had alleged.
The Interior Minister states that Imran Khan transferred 240 kanals of this donated land to his close friend Farah Gogi. He has also accused the value of the land was underestimated as the former Pakistan Prime Minister received his share in the name of a university.
"The case did not just end here. Bahria Town, after its Rs50bn was protected by the government, entered an agreement and allotted a 458-kanal land with an on-paper value of Rs530 million to a trust owned by Imran and his wife," he accused.
