If You Block Our Water, We Will Choke Your Breath: Pak Military Leader Warns India On Indus Treaty Suspension
As the tensions easing down between India and Pakistan, a video of Pakistan's military spokesperson making a provocative speech on the Indus Water Treaty has gone viral.
What Pakistan Military Leader Said?
In the video, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has warned India that echoed rhetoric of wanted terrorist Hafiz Saeed. His remarks were made during a public speech addressing India's decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty.

In a video circulating online, General Chaudhry is seen speaking at a university event in Pakistan, declaring, "If you block our water, we will choke your breath."
Observers online were quick to notice the resemblance between his words and those of Lashkar-e-Taiba founder Hafiz Saeed, who allegedly stated in the past, "If you stop the water, God willing, we will stop your breath, and then blood shall follow in these rivers." This similarity sparked widespread criticism and concern.

Pahalgam Terrorist Attack
Following the terrorist attack in Kashmir's Pahalgam which killed 26 civilians on April 22, India suspended the Indus Water Treaty, which was established in 1960 with the World Bank's facilitation, that outlines water-sharing responsibilities and mandates mutual data exchange on river usage.
India has maintained a firm position, reiterating its stance that "blood and water cannot flow together; talk and terror cannot go together," highlighting its growing intolerance toward Pakistan's alleged support for terrorism.
Hafiz Saeed, founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Pakistan’s DG ISPR Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry say the exact same line: “If India stops our water, we’ll stop their breath.” One is a terrorist. The other is a general.

The treaty suspension forms part of a broader set of retaliatory actions by India, which included "Operation Sindoor" on May 7, targeting nine terrorist camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir.
Amid these developments, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a rally in Bikaner, Rajasthan, delivered a stern message to Pakistan: "If Pakistan continues to bleed India through terror, it will have to struggle for every drop of water. Playing with the blood of Indians will now cost Pakistan heavily," he declared.
