I Was In The Marines—What Have You Done?: Vance Hits Back At Kamala Harris

During a rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance criticized US Vice President Kamala Harris, questioning her loyalty to the country.

Vance, who served in the United States Marine Corps and built a business, responded to Harris's recent comments by saying, "What the hell has Kamala Harris done other than collect a cheque?"

Vance Hits Back At Kamala Harris - Here's What He Says

The remarks from Vance came after Harris had earlier criticized him for his stance on the 2020 election results. Harris had compared Vance to former Vice President Mike Pence, alleging that Vance would have supported Trump's plan to overturn the 2020 election. In a video released on Wednesday, Harris accused Vance of being a "rubber stamp" for Trump's extreme agenda, asserting, "Make no mistake: JD Vance will be loyal only to Trump, not to our country," as reported by NDTV.

This rally marked Vance's first event with former President Donald Trump following his selection as Trump's running mate and Trump's first rally since surviving an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania. Despite media claims of Trump and the Republican agenda being "radical" and "dangerous," Vance was warmly welcomed by supporters in Michigan, CNN reported. Vance's family was notably absent from the rally. He mentioned that his wife, Usha, was spending time with their children, aged 7, 4, and 2, in Grand Rapids.

Trump, who had accepted the Republican nomination for president at the Republican National Convention earlier in the week, returned to the campaign trail with a smaller, beige-coloured bandage on his ear. His appearance came just days after the shooting incident in Pennsylvania, where a rally attendee was killed and two others were critically injured, as reported by Business Standard. The FBI identified the shooter as Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, who was killed by Secret Service agents.

The rally in Michigan saw many Trump supporters donning shirts featuring the former president with his fist raised, encouraging them to "fight." Merchants outside the venue sold various Trump-themed merchandise to attendees waiting to enter the indoor arena.

What Are Harris's plans ahead?

In response to Biden's endorsement, Kamala Harris expressed her appreciation and determination to earn the Democratic nomination. "On behalf of the American people, I thank Joe Biden for his extraordinary leadership as President of the United States and for his decades of service to our country," Harris said in a statement. "I am honored to have the President's endorsement, and my intention is to earn and win this nomination."

As the 2024 election approaches, all eyes will be on whether Kamala Harris can navigate the political landscape and secure her place as the Democratic nominee, just as Lisa Simpson's fictional presidency captivated viewers decades ago.
