‘I Am Close To India, Pakistan...': US President Donald Trump On Pahalgam Terrorist Attack
US President Donald Trump on Friday said that the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam was a "bad one".
Speaking to reporters, the US President stated that there has always been tensions between the two countries and they will figure out one way or the other.

He said: "I am very close to India and I'm very close to Pakistan, and they've had that fight for a thousand years in Kashmir. Kashmir has been going on for a thousand years, probably longer than that. That was a bad one (terrorist attack). There have been tensions on that border for 1,500 years. It's been the same, but I am sure they'll figure it out one way or the other. I know both leaders. There's great tension between Pakistan and India, but there always has been."
India and Pakistan's ties has hit new low following the Tuesday terror attack in Pahalgam. 26 civilians, including a Nepal citizen, were killed in the attack which is considered to be the deadliest terror incident in the country after the abrogation of Article 370 in India in 2019.
In view of the incident, India has taken several measures, including suspending the Indus Water Treaty and cancelling all visas to Pakistani nationals. In a tit-for-tat move, Pakistan has suspended all trade activities with India and treaties.
Islamabad has also closed the airspace for India.
America With Indians: US Spy Chief
Meanwhile, US' Director of National Intelligence has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that America stands in solidarity with New Delhi over the terrorist attack.
The US spy chief said, "We stand in solidarity with India in the wake of the horrific Islamist terrorist attack, targeting and killing 26 Hindus in Pahalgam. My prayers and deepest sympathies are with those who lost a loved one, PM @narendramodi, and with all the people of India. We are with you and support you as you hunt down those responsible for this heinous attack."
The incident has been condemned by global leaders as the Indian PM has vowed to punish the people involved in the attack "beyond their imagination".
Russian President Putin said, "We expect that the organisers and perpetrators of the terror attack will face a deserved punishment." He stated: "I would like to reiterate Russia's commitment to further increasing cooperation with Indian partners in fighting terrorism in all its forms and manifestations."
