According to reports, Tejaswini was a young professional from the Hayathnagar area of Hyderabad. According to her father's statement to a local TV channel, Tejaswini had initially traveled to London three years ago to pursue her Master's degree.

Tejaswini's cousin, identified as Vijay, stated that the suspect had recently moved into the shared accommodation where Tejaswini resided with her friends, less than a week prior to the incident. Vijay expressed bewilderment over the motive behind the attack, as Tejaswini had minimal interaction with the Brazilian man.
