How ChatGPT Helped a Woman Catch Her Cheating Husband Over a Coffee Cup

In a bizarre example of artificial intelligence influencing real-life relationships, a Greek man's marriage has taken a shocking turn after his wife followed advice given by ChatGPT.

As AI tools like chatbots increasingly become part of everyday life-handling everything from work tasks to decision-making-a recent case in Greece has highlighted how these tools can sometimes overstep their bounds.

The man shared his story on the Greek morning show To Proino, explaining how his wife became involved in a viral social media trend using ChatGPT for fortune-telling. Inspired by traditional tasseography (coffee ground reading), she prepared coffee, took photos of the leftover grounds, and asked ChatGPT to interpret them.

To her astonishment-and his horror-the chatbot suggested that her husband was having an affair, even naming a mystery woman "E" as someone he was allegedly fantasising about. The AI went a step further, claiming he was destined to start a relationship with her.

Despite the husband's insistence that the interpretation was nonsense, his wife took the AI's reading seriously. She asked him to leave their home, told their children about the divorce, and even consulted a lawyer to start legal proceedings.

The case has since entered court, with the man's lawyer arguing that AI-generated claims cannot form the basis for divorce. He maintains that he has never cheated and is innocent of the accusations.

The unusual incident has generated significant interest in Greece. Traditional coffee readers have stepped in to defend their practice, pointing out that genuine tasseography involves more than just analyzing coffee grounds-it also includes reading the foam and the saucer, elements that AI tools like ChatGPT are unable to assess.
