Texas-Based Foundation Commemorates Historic Indian Moon Landing
The Foundation for India Studies, along with the Consulate General of India in Houston, held an event commemorating the success of ISRO's Chandrayaan-3 moon landing. The event was presided over by D C Manjunath, who highlighted the significance of this historic event.
The Foundation for India Studies (FIS), based in Texas, along with the Consulate General of India in Houston, celebrated the incredible accomplishment of India's Chandrayaan-3 mission at an exclusive event. The gathering, held on Saturday, commemorated India's historic lunar landing on the uncharted southern region of the moon and underscored the significant contributions made by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to space exploration.
Foundation for India Studies

The FIS is a non-profit organization that aims to promote knowledge about India's global contribution in various fields such as languages, literature, arts, sciences, engineering, politics, economics and spirituality. Through events like these they aim to highlight and celebrate these achievements.
Significance of Moon Landing
D C Manjunath, Consul General of India in Houston who presided over this event emphasized on the profound significance of this historic moon landing. "Government of India has designated August 23rd –the day when we achieved this landmark feat– as National Space Day," he announced proudly.
India’s Ambitious Future Missions
In addition to celebrating past accomplishments like Mangalyaan and Chandrayaan missions; future plans were also discussed during this event. The Consul General informed attendees about ambitious upcoming projects such as Gaganyaan missions and Samudrayaan mission which intend not just to explore outer space but also deep-sea exploration respectively. "India has ambitious plans to explore depths of ocean floor under its upcoming Samudrayaan mission set to launch later this year," he shared with a packed audience.
Acknowledging Key Contributors
Krunal Joshi who serves as Counsellor for Space at Indian Embassy located in Washington D.C., and ISRO Representative was among other key contributors acknowledged during the event. His role in representing ISRO's interests and initiatives in Washington D.C., was recognized, reflecting the global significance of India's space missions.
In conclusion, this commemorative event not only celebrated India’s historic achievement of Chandrayaan-3 mission but also brought to light ISRO’s immense contribution to space exploration. The Foundation for India Studies, through such events, continues its endeavor to promote knowledge about India's significant contributions globally.
