Local media reported that Jolie's visit was part of a charitable aid initiative. She visited medical facilities, including a maternity hospital and a children's hospital. Social media images showed her interacting with children in a room filled with toys. The head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration presented her with a "Kherson" coin as a token of appreciation.

Jolie's Advocacy for Ukraine

Jolie has consistently supported Ukraine amid Russia's invasion. In March 2022, she visited Ukrainian children at a pediatric hospital near Vatican City. During this visit, she expressed her hope for peace, stating: "I am praying for an end to the war. This is the only way to end the suffering and the flight from the conflict zone. It's terrifying to see children paying the price in lost lives, compromised health and trauma."

Later that year, she traveled to Lviv in western Ukraine to meet injured children and displaced individuals. Her advocacy continued at the Cannes Film Festival in May when she honoured late Ukrainian writer Victoria Amelina. Jolie highlighted the risks faced by artists worldwide, mentioning Amelina alongside others who lost their lives.

Incident During Visit

According to RBC-Ukraine, local authorities detained him at a checkpoint despite his claims of escorting "an important person." He was held for an unspecified duration until Jolie personally intervened at their office.
