Hillary Clinton gains support after first presidential debate
Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump took part the first presidential debate 2016 at Hofstra University's auditorium in New York.
The first of the three presidential debates has seen Hillary Clinton as the winner of the debate over Republican contender, Donald Trump.
The first debate centred around three topics - US's future direction, how to achieve prosperity for US and how to secure the US. The 90-minute debate was broken into six segments of 15-minutes each.
Lester Holt of NBC who moderated the debate asked questions for which Trump and Clinton were allowed two minutes to answer and then the remaining time was for the debate.
Donald Trump's strategy was to show that all things had gone in the US and that he is the one who can fix all the issues that the country faces.
Former US first lady Hillary Clinton on the other hand who has also served as Secretary of State under President Barack Obama defended herself with strong facts and she ensured that Trump was not able to change the topic when he was not able to give answers.
Trump had also tried several personal attacks on Hillary during the debate. He had once made reference to Hillary's stamina if she became president.
Hillary Clinton instead of being defensive at that time said, "I think Donald just criticised me for preparing for this debate. And yes, I did. And you know what else I prepared for? I prepared to be President. And I think that's a good thing."
Here is the reaction from people across the globe on the first presidential debate 2016.
Writer for The Washington Post's politics blog, The Fix, Philip Bump, "Trump inspired a lot more chatter on social media, but that's probably not a good thing".

I don't even get how a person like D. Trump has become the Republican Candidate, maybe because I'm European. #debatenight Go @HillaryClinton
