Helicopter Carrying Passengers Crashes in Nepal’s Khotang, Rescue Ops On

A helicopter operated by Air Dynasty crashed during landing in eastern Nepal's Khotang district on Wednesday, leaving one person injured. The incident occurred while the aircraft was attempting to land on a field, officials confirmed.

The helicopter had taken off from Kathmandu and was carrying five passengers at the time of the crash. According to local authorities, the aircraft went down at around 11:51 AM while making its final landing approach in Khotang District.

Officials said the helicopter crashed onto farmland during the last phase of landing, suggesting that the accident happened just moments before touchdown.

Helicopter Was Carrying a Dead Body

Authorities revealed that the helicopter was transporting a dead body when the crash occurred. This detail was confirmed by Chief District Officer Rekha Kandel.

Such flights are often arranged in remote areas of Nepal where road access is limited, making air transport a common option.

One Injured, Others Safe

Out of the five passengers on board, one person sustained injuries in the crash. The pilot and the remaining passengers escaped without harm.

The injured individual is currently receiving medical attention, and their condition is being monitored.

Rescue Operations Underway

Soon after the crash, emergency response teams reached the site to assist with rescue efforts. Another helicopter was dispatched to help evacuate the injured passenger and provide further medical support.

Authorities said that the rescue operation is being carried out in coordination with local teams and aviation officials.

Possible Cause: Weather and Dust

Initial reports suggest that the crash may have been caused by strong winds or dust rising during the landing process. However, officials have stated that a detailed investigation will be conducted to determine the exact cause.
