Haryana Man Killed In United States Over Small Argument

What was meant to be a journey of hope turned into a tragedy for a farming family in Haryana's Jind district. Their only son, Kapil, who had left for the United States two years ago in search of a better future, was shot dead in California after he objected to a man urinating in public.

Eyewitnesses rushed to alert the police, but before any help could arrive, the 24-year-old collapsed from his injuries. Doctors tried to save him, but he did not survive. The shooter is still on the run.

For Kapil's parents, the news has been unbearable. Born on May 22, 2000, in Barah Kala village, Kapil was their only child and their only hope. In 2022, he had taken the perilous "Dunki" route to the US, a journey that cost the family nearly ₹45 lakh-an amount they raised by exhausting their savings. Once settled abroad, he had begun sending money home, helping his parents make ends meet.

Now, the same family finds itself unable to afford the costs of bringing his body back. "He only asked a man not to urinate in the open... and for that, he was shot," a heartbroken relative said.

Kapil's sudden death has left behind not just grief, but also unanswered questions, as his family struggles with the cruel irony of losing the very person they had invested everything in to secure a better life.
