Greece: Efforts being made to rescue passengers from ferry
Athens, Dec 29: A day after the Italian flogged Norman Atlantic ferry caught fire, efforts are being made to rescue the stranded passengers.
According to latest reports, passengers are being airlifted to a nearby ferry. One man died but there were no confirmed reports of any other casualties. So far 221 people have been rescued from the ferry while 227 remained on board.

Close to 500 passengers were stranded on the ferry after a fire broke out on its lower deck in the early hours of Sunday. News reports suggest that the passengers are braving the extreme cold weather and the smoke that has engulfed the ferry.
Rescue operations were however hampered due to bad weather and even as officials continued to battle darkness.
