Goldy Brar Alive: California Police Confirm He Was Not A Victim Of The Fatal Shooting

The false reports of Indo-Canadian gangster Goldy Brar's death in California were confirmed to be misinformation by the Fresno County Sheriff on Thursday (May 2).

It was stated by the sheriff that the earlier claims of Brar's demise were fake news.

Another police official, Lieutenant William J. Dooley, clarified to the news agency IANS that the rumours of Brar's death were untrue. "If you are inquiring because of the online chatter claiming that the shooting victim is 'Goldy Brar', we can confirm that this is absolutely not true," said Lieutenant Dooley.

Lieutenant Dooley also addressed the widespread misinformation, stating, "We have received inquiries from around the world this morning as a result of misinformation being spread on social media and online news agencies. We are not sure who started this rumour, but it caught on and spread like wildfire. But again, it isn't true. The victim is definitely not Goldy."

Earlier reports in a section of Indian media had erroneously claimed that Brar, implicated in the murder of Punjabi rapper and singer Sidhu Moosewala, had been fatally shot in the US.

According to a report by News 18, it was alleged that Brar was gunned down on Tuesday around 5:30 pm local time at Fairmont and Holt Avenue in California. Brar was reportedly standing outside his house when unidentified attackers opened fire and then fled the scene.

Goldy Brar, born in the north Indian state of Punjab in 1994 into a family with a law enforcement background, was designated as a terrorist by the government of India following Sidhu Moosewala's murder on May 29, 2022. India's home ministry suspected Brar's involvement with the Babbar Khalsa terrorist organization, active in Canada, as reported by WION news..

Brar was also among the 25 most wanted individuals in Canada, accused of being associated with over 50 murders. Brar initially travelled to Canada in 2017 on a student visa and subsequently settled there permanently in 2021.

In Canada, Brar assumed control of operations for gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who was incarcerated in India. These operations included contract killings and extortion activities in India, among others. Following an Interpol notice in 2022, he reportedly relocated to the United States, as per media reports.

Last year, Brar's cousin, Gurlal Brar, was killed by unknown assailants outside a nightclub in Chandigarh. Lawrence Bishnoi's gang claimed responsibility for the attack, citing retribution for the death of Youth Congress leader Gurlal Pahalwan.
