Give Him Title Of King: Imran Khan Mocks Pakistan Army Chief Munir Over Field Marshal Promotion
Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has mocked his Army Chief Asim Munir, who was promoted as Field Marshal, days ago.
In 1959, ex-Army general Ayub Khan was the first such officer to be given the honour considered Pakistan's highest military rank.

What Imran Khan Said?
Taking a dig at Munir, the former Pakistan PM said that he should have been honoured with the title 'King' as the country is ruled by the law of the jungle.
In a post on X, Imran Khan wrote, "MashaAllah, General Asim Munir has been made Field Marshal. Though frankly, it might have been more fitting to give him the title of 'King'; instead - because right now, the country is ruled by the law of the jungle. And in the jungle, there is only one king."
Asim Munir reportedly played an instrumental role in jailing Imran Khan and defeating his party Tehreek-e-Insaf, last general elections.
No Deal With Pak Govt: Imran Khan
Imran Khan, who has been in jail since August 2023, has also refuted the claims that he has struck a deal with the ruling party and urged the military to hold talks with him if they truly care about their country.
"The country is facing external threats, a surge in terrorism, and an economic crisis. We must unite. I have never asked for anything for myself before, nor will I now," he stated. Khan continued, "The ongoing situation reflects that the very spirit of democracy is being crushed. When you send the message that the bigger the thief, the higher the office they'll hold - you bury justice. The NAB still holds a case against (President) Asif Zardari's sister involving five apartments registered under employees' names. She is abroad, and no one dares question her. Shahbaz Sharif was accused in PKR 22-billion money laundering case, yet he was made Prime Minister."
The Tehreek-e-Insaf chief said that the country's moral and constitutional framework has been utterly destroyed in the past three years.
On the other hand, Asim Munir, whose image had taken a toll in the last two years, has now become a "hero" among Pakistanis despite his country suffering a defeat against India in the recent conflict triggered by the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22 in Kashmir, Reuters reported.
"It has made the general stronger than any other previous generals. He is a hero now," Yousuf Nazar, a political commentator, told the English news agency.
