Georgia: US Military C-130 plane crashes near Savannah airport; no survivors

A US military transport aeroplane plane crashed on Wednesday onto a busy highway moments after taking off from a Georgia airport, killing nine National Guard members from Puerto Rico, authorities said. According to US media reports, it is a C-130 Hercules military aeroplane that crashed.

The incident occurred when the C-130 was taking off from the airport and it crashed around 11:30 a.m. Black smoke rose into the sky after the plane crashed.

A Puerto Rican official says at least nine people were killed after the Air National Guard WC-130 plane crashed off a highway. Meanwhile, the local official said no apparent survivors.

The 165th Airlift Wing based in Savannah, which responded to the crash, said on Facebook that the plane had been "performing a training mission".

Meanwhile, President Trump tweeted: "I have been briefed on the U.S. C-130 "Hercules" cargo plane from the Puerto Rico National Guard that crashed near Savannah Hilton Head International Airport. Please join me in thoughts and prayers for the victims, their families and the great men and women of the National Guard.''
