From Taj Mahal To Trade Talks: Inside JD Vance’s Diplomatic Tour Of India
JD Vance, the Vice President of the United States, has arrived in India on Monday at Palam airport for his first official visit to India. A four-day visit, accompanied by his Indian-origin wife, Usha Vance, and their children. Blending official diplomacy with cultural immersion, the visit underscores the deepening relationship between the United States and India, while also highlighting strong diaspora connections. Here are some of the key highlights from his ongoing itinerary:
- Arrival in Delhi - April 21, 10 AM:

After landing in New Delhi, JD Vance and his family will visit the Akshardham Temple to start their trip. Before attending official engagements, they are also supposed to visit an emporium in Janpath.
- High-Level Meeting with PM Modi:
Vance will meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 21 at 6:30 PM. An official supper will follow the meeting, which will be a landmark in the diplomatic relationship between the United States and India.
- Luxury Stay at Rambagh Palace:
The family will leave for Jaipur at 8:30 p.m. and arrive around 9:00 p.m. They will check into Rambagh Palace, a former royal home and a Taj heritage site. It promises a royal experience and is well-known for its elaborate architecture and Mughal gardens.
- Exploring Jaipur's Iconic Landmarks - April 22 Morning:
It is anticipated that the Vance family would visit Amer Fort as well as perhaps other well-known Jaipur landmarks including City Palace and Hawa Mahal.
- Business Address at Rajasthan International Centre:
At 3 PM on April 22, Vice-President Vance will address a business summit in Jaipur, emphasizing trade ties and investment opportunities.
- Meetings with Rajasthan's Leaders:
Later in the evening, he will hold meetings with the Governor and Chief Minister of Rajasthan to discuss state-level cooperation.
- Travel to Agra - April 23 Morning:
On the morning of April 23, the family will leave for Agra. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is expected to receive them at the Agra airport.
- Taj Mahal Visit with Cultural Welcome:
The Vances will tour the Taj Mahal and Shilpgram until noon. The route will be decorated with welcome stages and classical performances by Indian artists. The Taj Mahal will be closed to the public from 7 AM to 1 PM during their visit.
- Return to Jaipur - April 23 Evening:
After the Agra visit, the family will return to Jaipur for one final night at the Rambagh Palace.
- Departure for the U.S. - April 24, Morning:
The Vance family will leave for the United States on April 24, concluding a trip that blends diplomacy, cultural outreach, and symbolic ties to India's rich heritage.
This visit, coming shortly after Prime Minister Modi's U.S. tour in February, positions JD Vance as a key player in strengthening the shared vision of India-U.S. relations shaped by Modi and Donald Trump.
