Former US President Donald Trump Booked In Georgia Election Case, Mug Shot Released
Former US President Donald Trump on Thursday surrendered himself to authorities in Georgia on charges that he schemed to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in the state. A police mug shot of Trump was made public by Fulton County authorities.
This occurred shortly after he turned himself in and underwent processing at the Fulton County Jail. The charges relate to the case of alleged election interference in Georgia, which was filed against the ex-US president and 18 of his associates last week. In the photo, Trump - inmate no. P01135809 - can be seen glaring at the camera.

The picture marked another exceptional instance for Trump, as he had not been required to have his photo taken during his appearances in his three other legal proceedings.
After getting booked in the Georgia election case, Trump vigorously maintained his innocence and asserted claims of "election interference."
He said, "The right to contest an election should exist. I firmly believe that the election was manipulated. I conducted myself appropriately, and this fact is recognized by all."
Trump was arrested at the Fulton County jail on racketeering and conspiracy charges for trying to overturn the 2020 election results. He was released on a USD 200,000 bond.
Trump's jail visit lasted approximately 20 minutes before he departed for his New Jersey golf club. Prior to boarding his private plane at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson airport, he reiterated his belief that the charges against him, including those from his other legal battles, are driven by political motives.
He expressed to reporters, "The events that have unfolded here are a mockery of justice. I have committed no wrongdoing, and this fact is widely recognized."
At 77 years old, Trump has already stepped into unprecedented territory by becoming the first former U.S. president to confront criminal accusations, all while simultaneously pursuing another White House campaign slated for the upcoming year.
Former US federal prosecutor Joseph Moreno stated that the legal proceedings for the Georgia case, along with the other three criminal cases faced by Donald Trump, are anticipated to be protracted and not expected to reach trial in the coming months.
Joseph Moreno conveyed to the BBC, "Anyone who anticipates these trials occurring within the next few months is mistaken."
The Fulton County prosecution is the fourth criminal case against Trump since March, when he became the first former president in U.S. history to be indicted. Since then, he's faced federal charges in Florida and Washington and, this month, was indicted in Atlanta with 18 others - including his ex-chief of staff, Mark Meadows, and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani - under a racketeering statute normally associated with gang members and organized crime.
The criminal cases have spurred a succession of bookings and arraignments, with Trump making brief court appearances before returning to the campaign trail. He's turned the appearances into campaign events amid a far lighter schedule than his rivals, with staff delighting in wall-to-wall media coverage that has included news helicopters tracking his every move. The campaign has also used the appearances to solicit fundraising contributions from his supporters as aides paint the charges as part of a politically motivated effort to damage his reelection chances.
