Five dead in Mexico as plane crashes on highway
Mexico City, Jun 3: A small plane has crashed on the median of a major highway linking Mexico City to an industrial city, killing the five people on board.
The M7 Aerospace LP plane was conducting a test flight yesterday when it crashed on the road between the capital and Queretaro, forcing part of the highway to close, the transport ministry said in a statement.
The cause of the crash, which ocurred shortly after takeoff from Queretaro's airport, was not immediately known, the ministry said. A similar crash had happened in 2008, which cost the life of Mexican Secretary of the Interior Juan Camilo Mouriño and 8 others.
The plane crashed in rush-hour traffic close to the intersection of Paseo de la Reforma and the Anillo Periférico, in the Las Lomas residential and business district.
