Liberia, along with Sierra Leone and Guinea, have been the countries hit worst by the endemic which broke out in March.

Doctor said the condition of the patient was critical but stable at the time of his arrival and the hospital authorities said there was no risk of other people getting infected since he had been kept in an isolation ward.

The deceased person became the third Ebola patient to be brought to Germany for Ebola treatment. The first person had recovered in Hamburg and returned home in Senegal while another aid worker from Uganda is still undergoing treatment in Frankfurt.
