Firing At ISKCON Temple When Thousands Of Devotees Were Inside...

The ISKCON Sri Sri Radha Krishna Temple in Spanish Fork, Utah, known for its lively Holi celebrations, was recently attacked. Unknown individuals fired numerous bullets at the temple while devotees were inside. Around 20 to 30 bullets hit the building and nearby areas, causing significant damage.

Fortunately, no one was hurt during this incident. However, initial assessments suggest that the damage could amount to thousands of dollars. The temple's intricately hand-carved arches were among the affected areas.

India's Consulate Demands Swift Justice

The Consulate General of India in San Francisco has expressed strong disapproval of the attack. They released a statement on social media platform X, saying: "We strongly condemn the recent firing incident at the ISKCON Sri Sri Radha Krishna Temple in Spanish Fork, Utah. The Consulate extends full support to all the devotees and the community and urges the local authorities to take prompt action to bring the perpetrators to justice."

Growing Pattern of Attacks on Hindu Temples in the U.S.
This incident is part of an alarming trend targeting Hindu temples across America. On March 9, vandals attacked the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) temple in Chino Hills, California. This occurred just before a controversial 'Khalistan referendum' event in Los Angeles. Authorities believe these acts may be linked to politically motivated extremism.

In September last year, another BAPS temple in Sacramento was defaced with graffiti. A similar attack happened at a BAPS temple in New York, where hate slogans like "Hindus go back" were spray-painted on its walls.

Community Outrage and Solidarity

The Hindu community across North America has shown resilience and called for justice following these attacks. The BAPS Public Affairs office stated: "In the face of another Mandir desecration, this time in Chino Hills, CA, the Hindu community stands steadfast against hate. Our common humanity and faith will ensure that peace and compassion prevail."

The Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA) also voiced concerns about these incidents being part of a broader anti-Hindu sentiment pattern. On X, CoHNA commented: "Another Hindu Temple vandalised, this time the iconic BAPS temple in Chino Hills, CA... Not surprisingly, this happens as the day for a so-called 'Khalistan referendum' in LA draws close."
