Fidel Castro's eldest son commits suicide, say reports
The eldest son of late Cuban revolutionary Fidel Castro, Fidel Ángel Castro Díaz-Balart, committed suicide on Thursday, according to Cuba's state media report.
Havana, Feb 2: The eldest son of late Cuban revolutionary Fidel Castro, Fidel Ángel Castro Díaz-Balart, committed suicide on Thursday, according to Cuba's state media report.
The 68-year-old son of Castro was said to be suffering from chronic depression for the last several months.
Castro Díaz-Balart was popularly known as "Fidelito". He was the first-born son of the former president of Cuba, who died at the age of 90 in November 2016.

He worked as a nuclear physicist having trained in the former Soviet Union. Till the time of his death, he was a scientific adviser for the Cuban Council of State.
Castro Díaz-Balart also served as vice president of Cuba's Academy of Sciences. He wrote several books and represented his country academically at international events around the world.
"Fidel Castro Diaz-Balart, who had been treated by a group of doctors for several months due to deep depression, took his life this morning," Cuba's official newspaper Granma reported.
According to the state television he had been receiving medical treatment as an outpatient in recent months, following a hospital stay.
His funeral date is yet to be announced. As per reports, Castro Díaz-Balart's family will decide about his funeral timing and venue.
