Ferry with 100 passengers capsizes in Bangladesh

Dhaka, Feb 22: Rescue operation was underway after a ferry carrying 100 passengers capsized in central Bangladesh on Sunday.

Fire department officials said the ferry was reportedly hit by a cargo vessel at the Daulatdia-Paturia crossing on the Padma River, resulting in the mishap. The number of casualties is not yet known.

The site of the incident is 40 kilometres northwest of Dhaka.

Rescue teams and passing boats were deployed for the rescue operation.
