FBI Raids Former Trump Advisor John Bolton’s Home In Documents Probe, Days After His Tariff Criticism

FBI agents carried out a raid on the Washington DC-area home of former Trump National Security Advisor John Bolton on Friday morning as part of a documents-related investigation, according to a source cited by the Associated Press.

The operation began around 7 a.m. at Bolton's residence in Bethesda, Maryland, and was conducted under the direction of FBI Director Kash Patel, a Trump administration official told the New York Post.

Not long after the raid commenced, Patel posted a cryptic message on X, stating: "NO ONE is above the law... @FBI agents on mission."

The move comes just days after Bolton openly criticized U.S. tariff policy. His remarks were made a day ahead of the "high-stakes" summit between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Anchorage, Alaska, on Friday.

In a post on X last week, Bolton wrote: "When Trump slapped tariffs on India for buying Russian oil, but not China which also purchases Russian oil, it may have pushed India further into the Beijing-Moscow axis. This lack of focus by the Trump Admin is an unforced error." He was referring to Trump's decision to impose an additional 25 percent tariff on India over its Russian oil imports, bringing the total levies to 50 percent.
