FBI Chief Kash Patel Likely To Step Down

FBI Director Kash Patel might resign, possibly in support of Deputy Director Dan Bongino, who had a disagreement with Attorney General Pam Bondi. This conflict stems from the Department of Justice's investigation into Jeffrey Epstein's death and the debate over his alleged "client list," as reported by The New York Post.

Tensions escalated earlier this week when Bongino and Bondi clashed over the Trump administration's handling of the Epstein case. The dispute included discussions about a "review" of a client list that officials claim never existed. Following this altercation, Bongino is reportedly considering stepping down just four months into his role.

Internal Disagreements

A source told The New York Post, "I don't think Dan comes back if Pam stays," indicating that their relationship has deteriorated beyond repair. Although both publicly stated that no significant revelations were found in the Epstein file, disagreements persist internally.

A Justice Department official mentioned that Patel, closely aligned with Bongino, might also leave. "Kash and Dan have always been aligned," said the official. They both advocate for transparency, and in an environment where it's being suppressed, their departure wouldn't be surprising.

DOJ's Conclusion

The DOJ recently concluded its review of Epstein's 2019 death, officially ruling it a suicide. The review dismissed any notion of a "client list" and found no credible evidence of blackmail involving high-profile individuals. Bondi reiterated this during a Cabinet meeting on July 8.

Bondi clarified her previous remarks during the meeting: "In February, I did an interview on Fox...I was asked about the client list...my response was 'it's sitting on my desk to be reviewed,' meaning the (Epstein) file along with the JFK and MLK files as well."

Administration Concerns

Some insiders believe President Trump is reluctant to remove Bondi from her position. However, growing discord within the DOJ raises concerns about cohesion within the administration's justice apparatus.

A two-page memo from Bondi's department stated there was no incriminating list or evidence of coercion involving public figures. During the same July 8 meeting, Bondi addressed questions about missing surveillance footage of Epstein's cell, blaming outdated recording systems for the issue.

Bongino's Perspective

Bongino hinted at deeper secrets within the Epstein investigation shortly after Epstein's death. He stated, "His black book is definitely going to be damning...And I know that there are people out there who know things." However, in June on Fox News, he presented a more restrained view.

He mentioned that available case files pointed to suicide and were supported by existing video footage despite its poor quality. White House officials dismissed any speculation of discord within Trump's team.

"President Trump has assembled a highly qualified and experienced law and order team dedicated to protecting Americans," principal deputy press secretary Harrison Fields told The New York Post. He added that attempts to sow division are baseless distractions from real progress in restoring public safety and pursuing justice for all.
