Facebook finds way to attract users

New York, Aug 28: Social networking giant Facebook has breached the one billion user mark.

The company announced that on August 24, as many as one billion people used the service, The Verge reported.

"On Monday (August 24) one in seven people on earth used Facebook to connect with their friends and family," founder Mark Zuckerberg said in a post.

"When we talk about our financials, we use average numbers, but this is different. This was the first time we reached this milestone, and it's just the beginning of connecting the whole world," Zuckerberg added.

Facebook has continually found ways to attract new users despite market saturation and now the sheer size of its active user base pips other social networks by miles.

Efforts like Internet.org to deliver basic internet services to developing countries using solar-powered planes, position the company to grow its reach even further.

"A more open and connected world is a better world. It brings stronger relationships with those you love, a stronger economy with more opportunities, and a stronger society that reflects all of our values," Zuckerberg added.
