Ex-US Official Claims $21 Trillion Secretly Used To Build Underground Doomsday 'Survival City' For Elite

A former US official has alleged that the government secretly diverted $21 trillion in taxpayer funds to construct an underground "city" designed for the ultra-rich and top officials to survive a near-apocalyptic event.

Catherine Austin Fitts, who previously served as Assistant Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under President George H.W. Bush, made the extraordinary claim during an appearance on former Fox News host Tucker Carlson's podcast.

Although she presented no concrete evidence, Fitts referred to a 2017 study by Michigan State University economist Mark Skidmore, which highlighted substantial "unauthorised spending" by the Departments of Defense and Housing and Urban Development between 1998 and 2015.

Fitts said she spent years investigating the possible destination of the unaccounted funds and concluded that they had been used to build a vast system of roughly 170 underground bases - some allegedly beneath the ocean - connected by a transport network.

"We systematically attempted to estimate how many underground bases there were, both within the US and under the surrounding ocean," she said. "Our conclusion was 170, all linked via transport infrastructure."

The existence of certain US government bunkers is already known - such as Mount Weather in Virginia, Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado, and Raven Rock in Pennsylvania - which serve as emergency command centres.

However, Fitts claimed that a much larger, covert network has been developed, which could also support a "secret space programme" or other classified government activities.

Carlson expressed doubt, admitting he had believed such facilities were limited to Washington DC in the event of nuclear conflict. Fitts replied, "Some are, but it's broader - it's a form of catastrophe preparation."

She did not provide further details on the scale, layout, or security arrangements of the alleged underground system, nor did she identify who among the elite might be granted access in the event of a global disaster.

There is historical precedent for emergency preparations, such as the Cold War-era bunker beneath The Greenbrier resort in West Virginia, intended for US lawmakers. However, nothing on the scale Fitts described has ever been officially acknowledged.

Interestingly, USA Today recently reported that the classified Mount Weather facility - where congressional leaders were taken during the 9/11 attacks - is currently undergoing upgrades, though the reasons remain confidential.
