Ex-Uber driver admits US rape
New York, Oct 17: A former Uber driver who raped and kidnapped a woman in Boston was sentenced to up to 12 years in prison, attorneys said today, urging caution when using ride-sharing services.
Alejandro Done, 47, pleaded guilty Friday to aggravated rape, kidnapping and assault and battery, said Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan.

"The defendant preyed upon a young woman who trusted that he was who he portrayed himself to be," said Ryan.
"I encourage the public to take precautions when using any ride-sharing service. While these apps are a modern convenience, they are not without their risks."
On the evening of December 6 last year Done stopped on a Boston street where his victim was waiting for a pre-arranged ride-sharing driver. She got into Done's car, thinking it was her pre-ordered ride.
After stopping so the passenger could get money from an ATM, Done drove to a secluded location, where he climbed into the back seat.
There, he strangled her, covered her mouth so she could not scream and sexually assaulted her.
"Customers should make sure to verify license plates and car make and models before entering any vehicle, and remain active and aware of their surroundings," added Ryan.
Uber declined to comment on the case.
