Elon Musk To Visit India Later This Year, Calls Talk With PM Modi 'An Honour'
The world's richest man, Elon Musk, has announced he will be visiting India later this year, following a teleconference with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday. Musk described it as "an honour" to speak with the Indian Prime Minister.
Modi stated that their discussion centred around shared interests in the fields of technology, innovation, space, and mobility.

Reflecting on his conversation with Musk, the Prime Minister wrote on X, "Spoke to @elonmusk and talked about various issues, including the topics we covered during our meeting in Washington DC earlier this year. We discussed the immense potential for collaboration in the areas of technology and innovation. India remains committed to advancing our partnerships with the US in these domains."
The two had previously met during Modi's official visit to the United States in February. Musk, CEO of SpaceX, was accompanied by his three children at the time.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), their dialogue focused on enhancing cooperation between Indian and American entities in areas such as innovation, space exploration, artificial intelligence, and sustainable development.
Musk is regarded as one of the most influential figures within the administration of US President Donald Trump.
He currently leads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which is controversially aiming to reduce federal spending and cut down the government workforce.
Musk's planned visit comes as SpaceX's satellite internet arm, Starlink, awaits regulatory clearance in India.
The company has partnered with private telecom giants Jio and Airtel to roll out its services in the country. Earlier this week, senior executives from Starlink met with Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal to discuss the approvals required for local operations.
"Met a delegation from @Starlink, comprising of vice president Chad Gibbs & senior director, Ryan Goodnight. Discussions covered Starlink's cutting-edge technology platform, their existing partnerships & future investment plans in India," Goyal posted on X following Wednesday's meeting.
