Elon Musk Donates 'Sizable' Amount To Trump Campaign Ahead Of US Presidential Elections
Billionaire Elon Musk has made a 'sizable' donation to a super political action committee (PAC) supporting Donald Trump's presidential campaign.
This move marks a notable shift for Musk, who previously identified as politically independent and preferred to avoid politics.

Musk's contribution is directed towards America PAC, a relatively low-profile group. Although the exact amount remains undisclosed, sources familiar with the matter describe it as substantial.
The PAC is expected to reveal its donor list on July 15, reported Bloomberg.
Impact on the Political Landscape
This financial support from Musk comes at a crucial time for Trump, who has surpassed President Joe Biden in fundraising efforts.
Trump's campaign has benefited from wealthy Wall Street and corporate donors, while Biden's fundraising has slowed down after a problematic debate.
Despite not publicly endorsing any candidate for the 2024 race, Musk's decision to fund Trump's campaign could make him a significant financial force for the Republicans.
This development poses a challenge for Biden and the Democrats, who are already facing internal conflicts about the president's political future.
America PAC's Role
America PAC primarily operates behind the scenes to strengthen Trump's ground game. While Federal Election Commission disclosures do not specify where these efforts are concentrated, key battleground states are likely targets for canvassing and get-out-the-vote activities.
The PAC has spent $15.8 million so far, with $13.1 million allocated to field operations. It also invests in digital media, texting, and phone calls to engage voters. A recent FEC ruling allows super PACs like America PAC to coordinate with campaigns on voter outreach.
Corporate Influence
Musk's involvement in politics enhances his influence in Washington. His wealth largely stems from his stakes in Tesla Inc., SpaceX, and X.
These companies hold significant government contracts and often clash with federal agencies over regulations.
Some of Trump's proposed policies could directly impact Tesla, such as dismantling Biden's electric vehicle initiatives and imposing tariffs on Chinese EV makers. Despite past disagreements, Musk and Trump have grown closer, with Musk advising Trump on electric vehicles and cryptocurrency policies.
During Tesla's annual meeting last month, Musk mentioned his relationship with Trump: "He does call me out of the blue for no reason," he said.
Musk's financial backing of America PAC underscores his evolving role in US politics and highlights his growing influence as a technology mogul with right-leaning views.
